Prevanar

Were you looking for information about Prevnar? Prevanar is a common misspelling of Prevnar.

Prevnar® (pneumococcal conjugate vaccine) is a routine childhood vaccine typically given to infants and children under the age of two. It is used to prevent invasive pneumococcal disease and ear infections caused by certain strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae.

The antigens in Prevnar work by "tricking" the body into thinking it has been exposed to pneumococcal bacteria; if future exposure occurs, the body will produce antibodies to help fight the bacteria.
